OctoberOwls Showcase #Handmade #Folksy

Our inestimable daily listing club are on show today with an array of delectable delights for your perusal. Hah! That sounds good doesn`t it? I love words, you may have guessed, especially the old ones you don`t hear much of anymore.
Anyway, in plain English, that means we have lots of yummy goodies for you to look at.
Oh dear, there were so many wonderful creations that I kept adding, then eventually had to stop before I ran out of time to do the rest of the blog. If I had the time I would have added them all as they all deserve to be seen. But now it`s time to do a rhyme of some sort. I do wish I could be witty with my ditty, but unfortunately I can never think of witticisms, so you just have to endure the rhyme you get.
Looked after the grandchildren for the morning yesterday, well three of them anyway, the other one still had school. We started off at their house, then they decided they fancied doing some baking with the apples I still had left. I got them from my brothers tree, he lives round the corner, to add to the chutney I made the other day. I did make an apple crumble too the other day for the children, but yesterday we decided to make apple cake. The 12 yr old wanted to make that and then the 14 yr old made a tray cake of sponge with sultanas that has icing and sprinkles added to the top. We slightly overdid the apple cake, or rather I had some apples hanging over the side that dripped onto the tray beneath and caused a lot of burning and smoke. Oh dear. The cake itself was fine though. The base is mixed almost like a batter and the apples sliced on the top. Over them sugar and cinnamon, mixed together, is sprinkled liberally. Yum.
As usual, to see a bigger picture or a description, just click on the item to view it in the shop.
ENJOY!!!

The children decided to bake
and so we made an apple cake.
Then we made a tray cake too,
little cakes, there were a few.
Then they wanted to stay for lunch,
they are such an endearing bunch.
Chat and laughter, lot`s of mess
I cleared it all up, I must confess.
Good fun was had by all,
it wasn`t hard work at all.
Did some more crochet, that was fun
three things on the go to be done.
I really should stop making more
cos things aren`t going out of the door.
Sales at the minute are really slow,
none to give me a happy glow.
Just need a few to get the fizz back
at the minute it`s what I lack.
Lot`s of folk in the same boat
needing sales to stay afloat.
So come one and all, support handmade,
you wouldn`t want the variety to fade.
So hop over to Folksy and have a spree
support us British sellers, not only me!

Christmas Decorations #FolksyFriday

I was going to do this theme yesterday then I realised that it made more sense to keep it for today. I am going to do Christmas decorations because I keep seeiong so many gorgeous ones about everywhere. Nowadays they come in every medium from knitting, sewing, glass, wood, crochet, ceramics and much more. Don`t know about you, but I have got some for the grandchildren once or twice, as they have their own trees in their rooms. I think I might get them a personalised one each as I have seen some fantastic ones. But then there are so many gorgeous ones I could change my mind.
Doing this blog could decide it for me or it could make me more indecisive. `I used to be indecisive but now I`m not so sure`. I usually get at least one new decoration for my tree each year, so I shall be looking out for that too. I do love Christmas.
Well, I went and saw the taxman yesterday and he did it all for me. Such a lovely chap and very helpful. He made it all so easy and I was worrying about it all for nothing. That`s it all done for another year. YAY!!!!
You probably won`t believe this... but..... I bought some more yarn. Kind of a celebration thing... maybe... Actually I`m beginning to think that I have an addiction. Maybe there is a Yarn Anonymous group somewhere. The house is bursting at the seams but I still keep buying more, I can`t resist it.
Finished some mittens and another pair are half done. I started a new hat while waiting for my appointment at the tax office, I was early as usual. Well rather that than late and while waiting did the top of a hat. I find crocheting very calming and soothing mainly. Making something completely new is exciting though and my brain tends to work overtime as it constantly works out the best way of doing it.
The trouble with buying new yarn is that I want to use it straight away and ideas start bubbling at the sight of it. I will resist... or at least try.
I`ll stop waffling now.
As usual, to see a bigger picture or a description, just click on the item to view it in the shop.
ENJOY!!!

Christmas decorations are just so pretty
so I`ll include them in this ditty.
Lot`s of things to pretty up your home,
some small to take wherever you roam.
A star to put upon your wall,
up to you, it`s your call.
Festive goodies for your table
no it`s not just a fable.
Christmas is real and almost here
many don`t realise it`s close, I fear.
Summer came back and lasted so long
now we`re all behind and that`s wrong.
Gorgeous decorations for your tree
plenty there for you and me.
Rudolph, a snowman and Santa
words to spark witty banter.
An angel, a box of goodies and a fairy
this blog isn`t for the Christmas wary.
Beautiful wreaths and a wooden tree,
Christmas is fun. Don`t you see?
A Christmas tree tea cosy,
to make your teapot look posy.
A special bauble for your little one
I promise now, we`re nearly done.
A fabulous retro festive stocking,
no honest, we`re not mocking
those bah humbugs who hide away
who don`t want to play on Christmas day.
Special bunting, a mince pie plate,
having fun will be our FATE!!!!
YAY!!

Fabulous Treasure #Handmade #Folksy

I decided to do something today that I haven`t done for a while. That`s made you wonder hasn`t it? Looking at the new listings I decide to have a wander and add things that caught my eye. Various crafts that appealed to me for one reason or another. The style, the colour, the cuteness factor, the quirkiness or just because it`s something different.
There are certainly alot of very appealing and yummy creations today. The saddlebag made from a tyre particularly caught my eye, I`m thinking christmas present here. I mean, how often do you see something like that, so totally different. I think, hope, you`ll love all my finds today and go looking through the shops to see what else they have available.
Yesterday I spent all day organising all my receipts and sorting everything out for the taxman who I am going to see today. The last time I had to visit the office was about 3 years ago and I discovered that I didn`t exist. That took some unravelling I`ll tell you. The lovely man who helped me couldn`t have been kinder or nicer, especially as it all took a while. I`ve always found them to be very good and helpful despite doing a job that most people deride.
By the time I had finished it all it was late afternoon and I felt brain dead. Although I did start my chutney off in the morning and then got on with the tax stuff while it busily simmered away. I`ve never made chutney before so was hoping it would be okay. Having examined the jars after they had cooled all seems to be well. I did have a quick taste and I liked it, so fingers crossed others do too, especially as I have several jars. Apparently my son in law likes chutney so we`ll taste test it on him. I will point out here that I do like my son in law and am not expecting to poison him.
I actually managed to get some photos done too which is good, although a couple of items will have to be re-done, the others are fine.
As usual, to see a bigger picture or a description, just click on the item to view it in the shop.
Havbe FUN and ENJOY!!!

Organising my tax stuff took all day
it was my own fault, I have to say.
Should have done it as I went along
but I didn`t and that was wrong.
I know now that`s it`s best to organise
all in advance, now that I`m wise.
My brain was very overworked
and a blog theme I shirked.
Instead I had a wander round
and just look what I found!
Something different just for you,
plus cuteness and quirky to view.
Dominate the world with a book
I bet that made you look.
A saddlebag made from a tire
and no, it`s not for hire.
A leather bag, how good is that,
see that lovely felted hat.
A bag for knitting and for shopping
now that has got you hopping.
A pencil case, oh so cute
all you need is the loot.
A cushion and a teacosy
now don`t they look very posy.
Painted tealights, beautiful art,
from that you wouldn`t want to part.
Socks, toys and a bracelet too,
plus lavender dolls just for you.
Wonderful creations galore
who could ask for more!
