Spring Garden #Etsy

This is for Kirri of `maxollieandme` the British Crafters shop of the week for this week.

Welcome to max, ollie and me,
Since being a small child i have been obsessed with everything to do with sewing and textiles. I have lots of fond memories of playing with my mums button tin during the school holidays and spending hours sorting out all the buttons, old zips and many other items. Every time i opened that tin it was like finding treasure again and again. In fact my great nan, nan and mum have all passed down these button tins to me now. They are some of my most treasured items. I try not to open my great nan's tin to often as she is no longer with us, but her familiar comforting scent is still held among all her buttons and odds and ends.
These are the women in my life who have inspired me to continue to use such loved and passed down skills.
Every stitch I sew into my work is sewn with love!...

A slow start to the morning
as I sit and wait for the dawning.
Slowly the light comes up
as I sit holding my cup.
A few clouds that soon fade away,
to make room for a better day.
A blue sky appears with the light
maybe we`ll have a day that`s bright.
Now come some colours in advance
of the main act`s daily dance.
Here it comes the orange ball,
giving out it`s light for all.
Spreading luminosity far and wide
as I watch with delight and pride.
The miracle of life is born anew
and very sadly seen by few.
It`s so uplifting this daily sight
wonderful to see day succeed night!!

Rain or Shine #FolksyFriday

This blog is definitely inspired by the great British weather. At times we can have all the seasons, almost, in a day. We certainly have many days of alternating sunshine and showers.
For the British the weather is an endless source of conversation. We cmplain if it`s cold, wet, dry or hot. Whatever the weather there will be someone who isn`t happy about it and loves to have a good moan.
This winter seems to be going on forever and now the snow seems to be mostly over we are getting the grey days of rain. Those sort of days where it never seems to get properly light and it gets everyone a bit down.
Then we wish for the sun and warmth and when that`s here we`ll complain the gardens are dry and we need the rain.
Nothing like a good old moan about the weather. I`m sure it can`t be just the British who do that. Or is it?

What is it about the weather?
Often has us at the end of our tether.
How many times do you have a moan,
then hearing someone else, want to groan?
Some aren`t happy if it`s wet or dry
whether its freezing or we`re ready to fry.
Most are happy to see the sun
endless grey day`s are no fun.
The snow appears then it goes
as the earth attempts and throws
off winters biting shackles.
Then nature turns and cackles
locking on the chains once more
as the wind howled and blew
the snow whirled and flew.
The trees, they swayed
as the snow softly layed
and we again took up the fight
to keep out winter`s sharp bite!!

Spring Sunshine #Etsy

I have been looking at doing more treasuries just because it makes life a little easier having everything I want to put on here, in one place. Now this one was for the On Fire team treasury challenge. The theme was sunshine with yellows and oranges, just what we need at the minute with all this grey and cold weather.
Somehow yellows and oranges always seem so bright and cheerful and warming. I suppose that`s because of the sunshine aspect. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the beautiful brightness.
Yesterday was.... yes you guessed it, cold. It started off wet and that at least did improve as the day wore on.
I was busy crocheting to make some fingerless mittens as I had an enquiry about a smaller size. The ones I have in my shop do of course fit most sizes. I have small hands and tend to make them slightly big for me and with their stretchability it means they fit most people. Some I do make larger. This lady had smaller hands than me so I made them smaller accordingly after she said which style she liked.
Does seem odd and a sad reflection on our weather to be having to make gloves for this time of year. Mind you last summer there were times that gloves were needed. Fingers crossed it`s better, eventually, this year.

I`m looking for some warm sun,
hopefully before the year is done.
Some heat would be really nice.
What will it take to entice
the sun from hiding sometime soon?
Warmth too, would be a boon.
For now I`ll look at yellow
it helps me to feel mellow.
It`s brightness too helps my mood,
lifts it, stops me having a brood.
A cheery sun in a blue sky
lifts our spirits right up high.
Winter`s dragging on far too long
seems to me to be just wrong.
Come browse, drink in the sight.
Why not get yourself something bright?
Get ready for the spring coming our way,
it must get here, surely, one day!!

Noahs Ark #Etsy

This was for the Craftyfolk team`s European Front Page challenge. I decided to put it on here after taking part as I needed to plan ahead with the blogs.
With Saturday being a long work day and then being out in the evening I wouldn`t have had any time to get it done so I had to do this in advance on Friday evening.
The rules for this are: 4 Craftyfolk team members in the treasury and one of those to be the previous weeks winner. The other 12 must be European based or post to Europe. Once the treasury is done there is a button to click to check if the treasury meets the Etsy Euro FP guidelines. If it does then you can put #etsyeur as a tag. Yay!
I think it would be amazing to have a treasury on the front page. Once I was in a treasury that got Front Page status and was amazed at the amount of views I logged that day. Sadly it didn`t result in a sale but it was very exciting all the same.

I decided to have Noah`s Ark
thought it would be quite a lark.
Turned out to be very cute
as well as being quite a hoot.
Animals here in many a form
some not looking quite the norm.
A dragon that doesn`t breathe fire
not in the Ark, it had been lost in the mire.
Lions, tigers and monkeys too
went in the Ark, two by two.
Tortoise, rabbits, a fox and a bear
couldn`t be left out, to be fair.
If Noah didn`t want a major bungle
he needed all the animals of the jungle.
Must have been hard to keep them from harm
especially all the ones from the farm.
The Ark must have been really large
so much bigger than a barge.
Maybe as big or bigger than a liner today
but it`s lost in time so who can say.
Was it real, who really knows?
But as a story it certainly flows!!
