Colours of Summer #Etsy

This was a treasury for the On Fire for Handmade team on Etsy. The theme was to be Blue and Orange which always make me think of summer, hence the name. I always think these two colours are so stunning together with the warmth of the orange offset by the coolness of the blue.
I am not only doing all these treasuries to help promote the various people and teams, a major part of it, but also to try and get a European Front Page on Etsy. I figure that the more I do the more I will refine the process and improve slowly but surely. Hopefully I manage it before I get frustrated at the lack of progress and give up.
Yesterday was a miserable day that only got worse, weather wise. Inside though it was perfectly fine. My sister and niece came to visit and we spent an enjoyable hour and half drinking coffee and catching up. Then it was catching up on a bit of housework, don`t want to overdo it, some crafting and then computer time.
I was doing treasuries and updating my website. I was going to put playing around with it because in reality that`s what I was doing. Trying, and failing, for improvements. Still each time I learn a bit more, I`ll get there in the end.

The colours remind me of a holiday
a visit on a bright summers day.
Visiting a volcano way up high
I almost felt I could touch the sky.
Blue sky above and cloud below
it sounds very strange I know.
It looked just like a frothy sea
of white capped waves to me.
Clouds everywhere, like cotton wool
moving with the winds push and pull.
To see it was quite a surprise
took some time for me to realise
just what I was seeing, standing there
on a volcano in the suns bright glare.
A volcano that`s remained asleep
with locals hoping that it will keep
slumbering, an attraction for tourists to see
and a vital part of the local economy!!

Orange & Turquoise #Etsy

This was a treasury on Etsy for the winner of the British Crafter`s shop of the week. This week it was Di of Adien Crafts.
Her shop bio says:
I joined Etsy in 2010 but have only just opened my Shop here (April 2012) My shop name Adien Crafts is an anagram of my name Diane. I'm in the UK in a small town called Keynsham, half way between Bristol and Bath.
I love to make things, I sell mostly jewellery online but I also make cards and do a lot of sewing. Semi-precious gemstones are my favourites to work with, I love what Mother Nature has given us to work with, some stones are just amazing with their colours and patterns so I enjoy designing pieces to show them off in their full glory. I also make pieces using other gorgeous beads I come across and can't resist!
I love trying new techniques and the great thing about craft work is that there is always something new to learn - the possibilities are endless!
I am happy to make anything to order, I take commissions for all sorts of pieces from simple earrings in a specific colour to my current project which is a special rosary for a special customer, please contact me if you'd like me to make something for you.
I spent many years in retail, and I enjoy a spot of retail therapy myself - my opinion is that the experience of buying should be a special one, I hope my customers all feel special from the moment they order to the moment they receive their nicely wrapped parcel.
Do have a browse through Diane`s beautiful shop but I warn you that you may not be able to resist treating yourself to her gorgeous jewellery.

Paper Perfect #Etsy

I was trying to catch up on my promotional duties and decided to kill two metaphorical birds with one stone again. So this blog started as a treasury for the British Crafter`s team treasury challenge before being brought here.
This weeks winner was Susan of Dottie Designs. We could choose anything from her shop and I decided to see what I could find in the team selection under `paper`. As this was also for a Euro Front Page, I then moved onto the Craftyfolk team for more selections of paper goodies. I was quite surprised with the variety available and I`m sure that had I looked further I could have come up with even more variety.
Saturday was my younger daughters birthday and at night we all went to Quasar which does laser tag. Now I hadn`t done this before and wasn`t at all sure if I would like it but it was really great fun. We had two games booked of 20 minutes each, so played for 40 minutes altogether. I was surprised at how fast the time went. The explanations weren`t very good or very audible to those of us at the back, so we just had to wing it and hope for the best. We all soon got the hang of it and I think everyone really enjoyed it.
After that we all went back to our local pub and had a good time there too. I think the birthday girl enjoyed her day.

Today we have a clear blue sky
not a cloud in sight up on high.
Sparkling white all around
from rooftop to the ground.
Creeping fingers of golden light,
now the frost is no longer white.
As the sun starts it`s stately rise
I watch as those rays of light prise
the darkness from every nook and fold
turning the darkest corner into gold.
The chill of the night slowly falls away
as the sun warms the air of the new day.
It`s finally starting to feel like spring
as I listen to the birds chirp and sing.
I`m hoping winter has departed for good
this time, just as it finally should.
It stayed this time, much too long,
with Easter`s snow the final swansong!!
