July Jewels #Handmade #Folksy

I think we should have a July Jewels day today. For those that don`t know it`s the daily listing club on Folksy. The club has been running since April 2010 I believe and has continued ever since. I belonged for 10 months and it helped me a lot, as I joined when I opened my shop in September. They are a very supportive bunch of people and it has a nice community feel. I have taken 2 months off to prepare for the season ahead and so far am getting on pretty well. I am hoping to get lot`s made and photographed while the weather is good, then it won`t be such a rush.
So today in support of the listing club I am showing some of their wonderful creations. I can of course only show so many and if you want to see more you will have to look on the Folksy Forum in Chittah Chattah for the July Jewels thread.
Not much to report for yesterday really as I was at work. Got some crocheting done in my lunch hour and did some for a couple of hours in the evening. I am pleased with everything I`ve completed so far. The only shame is that having discovered this wonderful textured yarn I only have so much and once it is gone cannot get anymore as it is discontinued. I have to admit that it is a pain to work with because of the various strands, but I love the finished effect and it`s worth the extra time.

The grass is green once more and really growing
think it`s to do with the rain that keeps flowing.
The flowers that looked so proud and tall
have been battered and now look small.
So many destroyed by the rain
that crushed them again and again.
The trees though are leafy and green
looking as good as I`ve ever seen.
The weeds are growing like mad
and that`s very definitely bad.
Why can`t it just rain at night
and disappear when it gets light.
Then we`ll have sun through the day
great for everyone to have fun and play.
There`d be barbecues and picnics too
outdoor living all day through.
We need the seasons to return,
I think they would if we learn
to take care of the planet better
doing our bit, recycling every letter.
If we don`t take care, we won`t be here
to see this land that we all hold dear.
It won`t happen now or affect us,
folk think we`re making a big fuss.
It`s for the future, for those to come,
that we can no longer play dumb.
So do your bit with a smile
and try to go the extra mile!

Cupcakes #FolksyFriday

Today is friday and therefore time for a Folksy Friday blog.
There are so many wonderful creations displaying cupcakes that I thought I would see what I could discover to put on here for you today. I do like to try and make the Folksy Friday a themed blog if I can. Sometime the brain cells just aren`t working as they should and I can`t think of anything different.
Actually, like most of my themes it came from a thread posted on the Folksy forum. I saw someone asking for cupcakes to be shown last week and had an ah ha moment. I always mean to bookmark the page but usually forget. As long as I write it down and don`t lose the piece of paper I`m okay.
What did I do yesterday... Lot`s of computer work, in spite of trying to limit the computer time. But I was adding a section to my website and also putting 3 new things on there, which of course ate up quite a bit of time. I also.... ta da..... did some Housework!!!! Not too much, but boy did I feel virtuous afterwards. I spent the afternoon adding beads to a new creation. A shimmering collar in purples with beads at the end of the ties. It took some working out, how to attach the beads securely on the end of the ties and be sure they wouldn`t come off. But I got there in the end and was pleased with the result.
Enough waffle, else there won`t be room for pictures.

Cupcakes are the big new thing
they make some want to sing.
I`ve been making them for years
they`ve never caused any tears.
But now there are so many books,
different recipes from all the cooks.
They are the same just prettied up
and now they`ve added the cup.
My in laws always called them buns
and they always made tons.
To me buns are a different type of cake
and take a another recipe to make.
Whatever you call them they`re the same
but now they have a different name.
Or is the topping that does it
if so then that would fit.
Regardless, they do look pretty
which is why I started this ditty.
They look better still as decoration
for each and every creation.
Don`t get hungry and leave, as you view

Thursday is a funny day, past the middle of the week but not quite almost weekend like Friday. Does that make sense?... no not really, but it almost does. Those with a strange mind like mine will understand what I mean.
I`m tired today so I couldn`t raise the energy to make my brain cells work and think of a theme. Instead I had a wander and grabbed pics that grabbed me, if you know what I mean.
I had a fun time with my grandson yesterday. We had a bus ride, which he loves. Then we went to the main library and he enjoyed himself in there. I picked up a couple of books and he liked putting them in the machine for me to borrow them. After that we went into the childrens library room, which is very colourful with great big animal shapes for them to sit on and alphabet and picture rugs too. The seats are low and childsize with tons of books for them to look at. I sit down while he tries out the various animals and then finds a few books for us to read.
After that we had some lunch visited a couple more shops then went home on the bus. He is so interested in everything around him that it makes me see them afresh too, it`s great fun.
As his Mum returned early I even managed to take some photographs and get them on the computer before the two older grandchildren arrived, one of whom commandeered it for homework for a while. The other one sat and chatted with me which was nice.
All in all, a good day.

I`m tired and weary, where to lay my head?
I think I should really be in bed.
I keep thinking just a little more
till my head and eyes are really sore.
Does this make me a workaholic
do I work instead of frolic?
But I really love what I do
creating my designs just for you.
It`s hard to drag myself away
even though I need time for play.
For me crocheting is fun
working till each piece is done.
The chore is picture taking
I would much rather be making.
I think most of us are the same
in not liking the picture game.
If only the hard bits were magically done
it would all be just fun, fun, fun.
Instead we have to list them all
write descriptions, not a ball.
Then it`s on to promotion,
what an terrible notion.
I need a fairy to wave her wand
of her I would be very fond.
The magically it would all be sorted
put on computer, magically transported
to the various sites to promote
and hopefully get someone`s vote.
That would be my idea of heaven sent
then I`d no longer need to vent!

#Orange Delight #Handmade #Folksy

Wednesday, the middle of the week, neither one thing or another. Do you get the Wednesday woes? Does it feel like the weekend is far away? If so, maybe we need something cheery on here, something bright.... Got just the thing, a lovely display of orange for all those with grey days and rain. This lovely display will brighten you up no end.
Now what did I do yesterday? Lot`s of catch up on the computer, joining a few more sites for promoting my wares. Also got my profile and some pics sorted on Google + which I`ve joined now. Still finding my way on there at the minute but everything is like that when it`s new. Well it is for me anyway. I have to make sure I limit my computer time else I would be on here all day doing stuff and there would still be more to do. Then of course I wouldn`t get time to make anything so it would all be pointless. Balance, I think, is the key.
I even did some housework and although it turned out to be nice day, in spite of the dire forecast, I didn`t get any pictures taken. Maybe it will be nice on Thursday. No chance today as I shall be adventuring with my youngest grandson. Hoping to get into the city as I want to buy a large balloon to make a Pinata for a birthday party. Actually, I`ll be making it with the four grandchildren, so it will be very messy and a lot of fun. Hmmm... Might just make sure I get several balloons... just in case.
