Santa`s Here!! #Etsy

It`s a busy old time of year for many right now, especially for Santa Claus or Father Christmas, whichever name you know him by. Around the world they all have their own name and legends surrounding him. For the children, none of that matters as long as he appears or at least leaves some presents.

I`ve been playing with my needle felting more lately, especially the needle felting sculptures. At the moment I have four all in various stages of being made. I do like variety and as each one takes many hours, I have a tendency to swap around which one I am working on. It`s very enjoyable though, seeing the soft sculpture taking shape and emerging from a bundle of wool.

Santa has been with a jingle and rustle,
no hanging about it`s all rush and bustle.
Each child tiptoes in the hush
before dawn begins to flush
the sky and start the day
sending the night on it`s way
Then every child busily sifts
through their pile of gifts.
Sparkly paper flies everywhere
as they hurry on without a care.
Christmas comes just once a year
and they`ll enjoy it never fear.
Their faces alight with joy
as they unwrap every toy!!

Aurora Borealis #Etsy

I took one look at this treasury and the first thought was WOW!! Followed closely by, Stunning!! These colours are all so gorgeous and go so well together. Even without the weakness for purple I would find this stunning.
This treasury was curated by Nancy Henry of NHQuiltArts.
Yesterday it was a quick trip to 2 different supermarkets. Stocks had got rather low and with the grandchildren coming for tea tonight I decided I needed to stock up. So I did.
Feeling very virtuous I then decided to do the rest of the Christmas cards. I had managed a dozen the day before and got to the end of the A`s in my address book. It`s not a job I look forward too but had to be done. A couple of hours later I was surrounded by varying heaps of written cards. A very big pile went into the Post box. The next lot went to someone who would distribute them for me at a dinner I would be missing out on. The next heap went to my older daughter to distribute with hers, plus the ones for all of them. Then I was left with local area to deliver and a couple of different heaps for other family. Yay me!! Done!! Ahh.... haven`t got hubby`s and just remembered at least 2 others I haven`t written .... make that 3. I`m stopping now before I remember more.

Snowflakes #Etsy

This is a bit different today, going for the look of snow and snowflakes.
Don`t you just love it when it first snows. The silent white snowflakes slowly or quickly, covering the world all around like a blanket.
Love it when it first happens, as long as it doesn`t hang around too long after that and make life difficult, it`s fine.
Yesterday I went to the cinema to see Philomena and thought it was a great film. It underlines again the way those in a position of power treat those that are most vulnerable in the most inhuman fashion. Made so much worse by the fat that it was supposedly `christian` people that did it.

Snow falling softly all around
steadily covering the ground.
Covering branches too, in white
such a very pretty sight.
A white expanse across the garden.
By the morning will it harden?
So much debris will have vanished
almost as though it was banished.
Leaving a clean white world
around which the snow has curled.
For some it brings fun and delight
yet others will feel only fright.
Fear of falling, of slipping on ice
of doing some damage, not very nice.
The elderly will find it scary
past experience making them wary.
The rest find it a real chore
and so very much a bore!!

Christmas Colours #Etsy

Now I bet you saw the title and groaned thinking NOT red again! So this will surprise you. It`s a mix of Christmas colours, we have greens and golds too.
Yesterday I went in search of some small seal top jars I had seen ages ago. Of course the shop no longer had them. I wanted them to make some bath salts.
Of course I couldn`t get anything I wanted then. I went into Hobbycraft looking for a couple of things I had fancied getting but no luck there either. In there, they either didn`t have it, or it wasn`t what I thought. So then I went looking in a clothes shop. Saw some nice tops, just gathered everything I liked the look of and tried it all on. Nothing was right, so I gave up.
Back home I had a lot to do but after the failures of the morning, no motivation to do it. So I didn`t. Just did some updating of shops, packaged up a sale and went to the Post Office. Quite boring really, apart from seeing the grandchildren and uber cute 2 year old twins that were at their house.

The morning was extra dark
no early singing of the lark.
Slowly the light appeared
it was worse than I feared.
A thick white mist creeping
everywhere while we were sleeping.
So dense it made the world shrink
seeing it like that makes you think.
I know the world is still there
I can see outlines if I stare.
But what if it all disappears
it`s spooky look feeds fears.
So white, the damp like fingers
clinging with a touch that lingers.
It reached out with a dank chill
not likely to give a morning thrill!!
