Do It With COTTON #Etsy

This started life as a treasury for the On Fire for Handmade team`s weekly treasury challenge. This week the theme was `Do it with ....` and it had to be fabric, yarn etc etc. I looked through the ones already done and realised that cotton hadn`t been picked out so far and went with that.
This time of year there is always lot`s of cotton about, whether in fabric or yarn. To my delight I managed a good assortment of creations for you to browse.
It does seem as though summer is finally getting nearer. We are getting plenty of sunshine and yesterday the temperature was in the late teens. We did still have a chill wind but it was warm in sheltered places.
Unfortunately with the summer comes that old bug bear Hayfever and both hubby and I are suffering at the minute, although he is much worse. When he first gets up he can`t stop sneezing for ages and it`s made him feel quite grotty. It doesn`t help that this is the first time he has ever had it and unfortunately has a bad bout. He doesn`t complain much luckily, just gets on with it which is good.
Mine gave me a fuzzy head so I didn`t really achieve much yesterday which was a pain. Still it all gets done in the end.

Blue sky and a fluffy white cloud,
shame that the wind is a bit loud.
Sun up high shining so bright
and always such a welcome sight.
Cheery smiles of happiness on every face
even old `uns picking up the pace.
Shedding clothes, arms all bare
children race by without a care.
Time to do the garden, I think.
Said of course with a nod and a wink.
I don`t like dirt going up my nails
it invaribly causes loud wails.
The kneeling, so hard on the knees.
At the thought of weeding, this one flees.
I am however good at supervising
and making tea, not surprising.
I give lot`s of encouragement and praise
I`ll even promise him a raise.
Two biscuits with the cuppa, instead of one
and in no time at all, the weeds are gone!!

Flowers for Summer #Etsy

Today`s blog is from a treasury for Colleen who is this weeks Shop of the Week on the British Crafter`s team. This week we all put as much effort as possible into promoting Colleen`s shop. It doesn`t have to be a treasury. Can be by sharing individual items a few times over the week on different sites, tweeting the shop or various items or doing blogs and/or treasuries.
So as you can see there is plenty of scope for helping with the promotion. It`s always worthwhile helping others just because you can and in this case, more so, because at some point YOU will be the one receiving the promotion.
Colleens shop is Midnight Star Designs. Her bio says:

It`s short and to the point and says quite a bit in it`s own way, especially the last bit. Colleen`s jewellery is gorgeous and well worth having a browse through, so why not do just that. You could even treat yourself while you are at it if you want to.

Here`s a poem I wrote while travelling on the train for a day out in London.

Here I am on my way
heading to London for the day.
A concrete jungle with many a shop
and I`m sure we`ll shop till we drop.
We`ll stop for a coffee for a while,
watch the world go by with a smile.
As we wriggle our toes, enjoying the rest
from the hard pavements that really test
our stamina and determination
to buy something nice in celebration
of this time together, sharing,
before the day is too wearing.
Then rested we`ll head off again
though many would consider us insane.
I don`t like shopping for shopping`s sake
personally I`d rather jump in the lake
Going with a purpose, that`s fine
at the end of the day, shoes will be mine!!

Red Hot #Etsy

I don`t know what the weather is like where you are but here in the UK in East Anglia, it`s gone back to freezing. We had a brief spell of mild and for the odd day, almost verging on summer days. Now though, as seems to be the way nowadays, we have once more taken a few steps back and returned to winter with very low temperatures and frosts.
Because of this unseasonable chill I decided we needed some heat on here, something warm to look at, with a glow. With that in mind I decided to go for red today, bright, hot, glorious red.
Yesterday I had a great time in London with my daughter and got some shoes I wanted, well two pairs actually. We wandered a while and got tempted into a new shop doing skin care products. A young man gave us a body scrub to use on our hands. It was quite amazing how soft it left the skin after it was washed off. Then we were given some body butter to put on our hands which was also really nice, hours later we were remarking how good it felt. We had coffee, lunch and some afternoon tea as well before I headed back. A really lovely day.

Around the house the wind is howling
tugging gates that seem to be growling.
Seeds are flung far and wide
they`re just along for the ride.
People bend against the flow
as it`s strength seems to grow.
Blowing pots, picking up a chair
lifting it, then depositing it over there.
Newly grown plants are battered
while bloomed flowers are splattered.
Toys are tossed here and there
without rhyme, reason or care.
Like March and October rolled into one
I wish this weather would soon be gone.
All we want is sun and heat
to sit upon the garden seat.
The month says summer should soon be here
but it`s in no hurry, that is clear!!

Lemon & Lavender #Etsy

Yesterday I was busy doing a piece of Inspirational art for my brother and sister in law for their anniversary. I`d been playing around with various ideas on how to do it and decided that maybe a poem would be nice.
Then I was struggling to get the printer to print the picture full size, didn`t seem to matter what I did just wouldn`t come out right. Eventually I got there and it was time to add the rhyme. I had written out two separately and didn`t know which to use so I asked my hubby. Tut tut, no help there at all. He said both were fine and why not do both, so in the end I did.
After all that I had a wander through Etsy to find a theme that inspired and saw a lovely treasury or two, with yellows and purples. For a minute I thought about using one of them but then decided that no it would be more interesting to go further afield. So into the search went lemon, followed by purple. Otherwise we don`t get to dip into the wider pool that is Etsy and discover more shops we haven`t seen before.

Sunshine filled my window
giving my room a warming glow.
Outside, the wind had a bite
as it blew with all it`s might.
New blossoms flying through the air,
nature ravaging without a care.
Spring was sprung and now has gone
will we ever have another one?
Hailstones fell from the sky
bouncing hard, going quite high.
Feels like winter has returned
as though nature has spurned
spring and turned it`s back
now the warmth we truly lack.
We had a taste and now it seems worse
as we again feel the winter curse.
With endless cold it`s hard to cope,
for springs return, we can only hope!
