If that`s you, in all the mad flurry don`t forget that it is about the two of you. Sometimes weddings can take on a life of their own with relatives wanting a say. That`s very nice if they want to help but ultimately the day is yours and decisions on the way it should be, should rest with the bride and groom.
Take time too, to enjoy the process, as hopefully it won`t happen again. When the big day gets here, refuse to get flustered by anything, just enjoy the day.
I can still recall my wedding day clearly, even though it was nearly 36 yrs ago, I loved every minute of it. There were minor things that went wrong, he wasn`t at the church, oh dear. The bridal car didn`t turn up, luckily the bridesmaids chauffeur came back for me. Little things that made no difference at all but were amusing to relate later.
A wedding day takes such hard work
it`s something we`re not inclined to shirk.
We all want to have that perfect day,
except everyone wants to have their say.
It all starts with a marriage proposal
hoping it doesn`t end with a marriage disposal.
Then it`s a flurry of who to invite
some you would rather stayed out of sight.
Then bridesmaids or not and the best man
a carriage, a car or a relative`s van.
Which Invitations and wedding favours,
what to choose and what sort of flavours.
There`s the reception of course and which venue
when that`s decided, time to choose the menu.
Very important, don`t forget the cake
and what sort, for goodness sake.
A garter, a headdress, a veil or not
it all swirls around in the melting pot.
But the only important thing for you
is remembering the all important, I DO!!

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful idea to make a blog on weddings. I wish we had had some of these on our wedding day. Those cute mice on Amy`s Clay Critters Mouse Wedding Topper is our favourite, as we like her work very much, she's in our favourite shop gallery.

Thanks for featuring my Wedding Card, Linda, among some lovely wedding items. I am with Natalie on this, as I wish Folksy had been around when we got married 13 years ago. There are some exceptional items in your 'finds' for today but I especially like the brooch bouquet and Dottie's album.
ReplyDeleteThanks for mentioning our personalised napkins xx
