July Jewels Finale #Handmade #Folksy

This is a final July Jewels blog post as that listing club is now over. I`m not sure yet what August`s will be, I assume there will be one. There have been so many wonderful creations over the month and of course only a very few made it onto here as I have mainly been doing 1 a week for the Jewels. I popped in most days to have a look through and would often find myself clicking automatically on the listings as I went through them. Old habits die hard, so they say. I`ve been doing that for 10 months and it became so automatic that I didn`t really think about it.
Pinata update:
Well the children (3 of them) popped round for a couple of hours and I suggested we crack on with the Pinata. Yes they all agreed we`ll do that. So I got all the stuff out, carefully covering the glass table outside with paper as hubby had just cleaned it. Looked round and there stood the 4 yr old, yep, he wanted to help. Then he decided a lolly was more interesting and sat on the swing to eat it.
So I got on with it, thinking they would join in after a bit. I covered the legs with paper and flour glue and may have got a little carried away, but they looked okay. Then I decided to add coloured tissue paper while it was still quite damp, occasionally adding a bit more of the glue. Bit messy, but not hard. Then I covered a cardboard cone for the head with paper and flour/water glue and while it was wet added red tissue paper as that came up next in the pile. Hmmm........ Did a bit more on the body adding tissue paper, looked okay....ish..... then I looked at the head. Bearing in mind it is now cylinder shaped with a rounded end and covered in red tissue. I thought it definitely looked a bit on the rude side.... so before they saw it I covered it quickly in orange paper... that looked okay.
The I went to wash my hands..... Now that wasn`t an easy task as I was now covered in various shades of dye that had leaked from the tissue. I just couldn`t believe my eyes and at that point was glad the children hadn`t helped. It took some scrubbing to get it off and now they just have a faint tinge.
Just didn`t occur to me that the colour would leak like it did. By the time it was off I realised that flour and water splotches were on my denim shorts (Knee length shorts)as it had dried white. At least I didn`t mess up the table... well... not very much...
As usual, to see a bigger picture or a description, just click on the item to view it in the shop.
ENJOY!!!

Now that the month of July is over
will we be in August clover?
Will the good weather finally come back
cos` the summer sun we definitely do lack.
Yesterday though was good fun
finally enjoying the summer sun.
Outdoors and playing with paper and glue
I`m sure it must be the thing to do!
Doesn`t everyone get splattered
and messy, ending up shattered
with bright hands that are dyed red
scrubbing away longing for bed?
Why can`t I just stay clean
am I the messiest you have seen?
It was supposed to be easy you know,
adding paper and glue and watching it grow.
Instead, it`s a slightly odd shape
maybe it just needs a cape.
Oh dear me, it`s not done yet,
how much harder can it get!
The rest should be plain sailing
if it`s not then I am bailing.
Maybe I should just eat every sweet,
that should fill it up, not the feet.
Just fills the belly of the beast,
once broken open there`s a feast.
The kids won`t care about the shape,
they`ll just think it`s a merry jape!
