Just what we need at this time of year, with all the grey skies about, some glitter and sparkle to make us feel festive.
Yesterday I looked after my 7 year old grandson as he was running a temperature and couldn`t go to school.
We had to nip to the supermarket, so picked him up a lego book with models to make inside. Then we spotted a kit for a gingerbread house, great idea we thought. How hard could it be?
So I mixed according to instructions with my helper. Then it said I would have soft dough.... simple right? No! What I had was more of a batter substance. No way I could roll that out. With added flour I eventually got a rollable dough. I followed instructions and that bit was easy, cut out the shapes and bake.
Now the next bit was apparently easy.... ish. Gluing it together was trickier than you think. It kind of caved in the first time, but with extra icing (the glue) it eventually stayed together. Not exactly a Hansel and Gretel cottage, more a basic shed but I had a 7 year old helper who was very proud of his efforts.
As usual, to see a bigger picture or a description, just click on the item to view it in the shop.
ENJOY!!!
It`s that time of year
when we`re full of good cheer
and we don`t need a reason
only that it`s the season
to attempt something new
because that`s what we do.
We start with every good intention
and ignore any and every mention
of any and all foreboding
shrug it off as family goading.
After all, what can go wrong?
my ingenuity is always strong.
Anything can be put right
just might take a little fight.
The walls and roof might bend
but we got there in the end.
One rustic gingerbread cottage of joy
and one very happy 7 year old boy!!

DeleteWe just made a gingerbread house this weekend. We had a kit, thankfully, I didn't have to bake it. I did use hot glue though to get it to stay. :) Thanks so much for the feature! xo Katie
