Love Lace #Folksy

I looked at Folksy`s front page and thought how pretty it looked with all the buttons on a variety of crafts. So I thought maybe I`ll do buttons and put it into the search. There were of course hundreds of buttons and 165 pages to go through and after browsing and a few other things catching my eye, I decided I wouldn`t copy the front page but would see what there was in Lace.
Not surprisingly there were loads and plenty of variety which is what I always check out first. And so today`s blog was born. Ta Da!
Like many things lace goes in and out of fashion but it does seem to be enjoying quite a revival lately. It really adds a beauty to many crafts as well as being stunning when something is made of all lace.
Vintage lace is also very popular I have noticed, especially to adorn bags, notebooks and cushions etc. I have to say that so many crafts look absolutely amazing for it`s addition.
Yesterday I was working on a cottage pincushion I`ve been making. The original planning took a while and I finally ended up with a workable template. I cut out the felt and spent a lot of time needle felting the roof and walls and then added doors and windows, then last of all I added plants around the base and climbing roses across the walls. Then it was time to stitch it together before more finishing touches. I stitched the main part with the sewing machine and then stuffed it, but I wasn`t happy with the roof. I enlisted hubby to help with a new roof design and when he`d finished I cut out a new roof and got busy needle felting it. All this of course happened over several days and the new roof was designed and felted the night before last. Yesterday I hand stitched the new roof into place and added the filling. Once that was done I finished sewing it and then added some more finishing touches by needle felting. I keep looking at it but can`t decide if it`s finished or not, so for now I will put it to one side and look at again in a few days.

ENJOY!!!

For a while lace went out of fashion
and now for many it is a passion.
Lot`s of vintage, some that`s new,
delectable lace just for you.
Fashion follows an unpredictable tide,
though lace is always right for a bride.
Lace often brings thoughts of romance,
of times gone by and old fashioned dance.
Of brides draped in a long veil
for every wedding without fail.
Lace at the neck and in the hair
and maybe on your underwear.
Cushions decorating your bedroom,
brightening and chasing away the gloom.
As curtains draped at a window
artfully arranged so they flow.
A garter, a scarf and a shawl,
you`d never part with these at all.
A pincushion, a plate and a dish,
you can choose whatever you wish.
All so reminiscent of times gone by,
so beautiful, they make you want to sigh!!
